1. Which materials will you spray?
The type of paint which you spray will determine the required spray tip size. Paint spray pumps are rated for specific nozzle sizes, so if you plan to spray different types of material you will need a versatile paint sprayer. Check the minimum nozzle size requirement for the material you spray and compare it to the maximum nozzle size of the sprayer you want to purchase.
All Graco’s sprayers support maximum tip size, and generally larger contractor grade units can spray thicker materials that require larger tip sizes more effectively.
2. What kind of surfaces will you spray?
Different surfaces required different materials and finish quality. You must consider the material you spray and the desired final coat to select the correct spray pump and nozzle.
3. How much do you want to spend?
Buying a spray pump is an investment. You do not want to spend too much money and pay more than what you need, or buy a product that is below your expectations and disappointing. Prices vary considerably and depend on spray pump demands. Some important features to consider when purchasing a paint spray pump are the maximum tip size, power supply, material compatibility, and the amount of material sprayed per gallon each week.
